Lomo camera

Hello, wondering if any one had an opinion on Lomo (LC-A1) camera that is now made in china (both lens and body). I used to own a original lomo miniature one that use to produce great color saturation and depth of field |

I too used to have an original LC-A, back in the 90s when I published a newsletter about Russian/Ukrainian cameras. That LC-A was appropriately priced (about $60, I think). The original LC-A has a top film speed of 200; the LC A+ tops out 1600 and is threaded for a cable release. That’s about it. If you’re looking for a pocketable 35mm camera, there are a lot of options that are more affordable than the $250 Lomo wants for the new LC-A. You might take a look at:

I’m sorry this may not answer your question regarding the quality of the new cameras which are made in China, but you may want to consider one of the originals which you can still get from eBay. They appear to be the original LOMO LC-A cameras which have been refurbished (meter tested, cleaned, and seals replaced from what I understand) so they will work as like new cameras (despite their age). I paid around $75 USD for one of them that was shipped from the Ukraine. I’ve put around three rolls through it so far (I don’t shoot as much as I used to) and it is the same quality as the one I had bought back in 1998. I think if you review the feedback from whoever you buy it from, you’ll likely find what you need from a reputable seller. I hope this helps! |
