No more bending with the dustpan
We needed a broom after I had used the house one out in the garage, and it was now too dirty to bring back in. At the store, the “Quickie Stand and Store Lobby Broom and Dustpan” caught my eye.
For under $15, it comes with a dust pan with a long handle and a broom. It is also available at other stores such as Home Depot. It works great because you do not have to bend over with a dustpan to sweep up debris. You simply sit it down and use the broom to sweep the trash into the bin. The dust bin itself has tall sides so the chance of stuff falling out is low. No more walking around carefully with a loaded regular dustpan hoping it does not spill. The broom is not quite as tall as a regular broom, so that you can use it with one hand (with your other hand on the dust bin handle). Or you can just sit the dust pan down, and it will stay up on its own as you use your other hands for sweeping.
We have a feisty little rat terrier that we rescued, and occasionally she will rip up paper and scatter it around on the rug in the living room. This broom and dust pan set makes cleaning it up a breeze. It is hard to sweep up paper on a rug, so with the dust pan I can just sit it in front of each little pile of paper and sweep/push the paper into the bin. No more breaking out the vacuum.
It stores easily, too. The broom and dust pan clip together and you can hang it from a hook in your pantry or closet. The dust pan folds down so that it takes up the least amount of space as possible. Overall, it is a great and inexpensive set for such a frequent chore like sweeping. Your back will thank you, and sweeping will become less of a chore.
