The hotel one from real goods is awesome, I have it in both showers in my house, the high pressure is almost a mist.

I also have a Real Goods showerhead, the one that costs about $12 and has a flow rate of 1.2 gallons per minute (and an on-off switch). The realgoods website is down at the moment, but a Google search will turn up this showerhead on Treehugger and other sources. I bought mine from Real Goods around 1996 and it has performed flawlessly all these years; guests (especially those from Europe) always remark how much they enjoy our shower. It gives a very strong and satisfying shower but not the "pins and needles" kind that hurts. It does take longer to wash long hair under it, I'm told....not an issue for me as I don't have much hair left myself. ;-)

I have the Oxygenics Storm and one similar to the Elite Oxygenics Skin Care on this page. http://www.faucetdirect.com/oxygenics/c30780?source=gg_oxygenicsgen_oxygenicsexact_oxygenics_e_7422965963_1t1_g&s_kwcid=TC|20470|oxygenics||S|e|7422965963

I've had them both for several years now and they still look and work like new. Best low flow showerheads I could find. Really nice pressure, even in a low water pressure apartment (and now that I have moved to a regular water pressure condo, they are even better)

Try Ecocamel (www.ecocamel.com/). These heads aerate your shower as it flows thereby maintaining pressure, but reducing water use. I have one at home that works really well. Only thing to watch out for is that they are slightly more noisy than a standard head.

I have one of the hand held ones from water management and they are amazing. http://www.takeashower.com/

My last place had water that barely dribbled out and this shower head turned it into a blast. Everyone I've recommended the shower head to has loved it.

I highly recommend the Delta 75152 Water Amplifying showerhead. It has 2 settings, the 'regular' setting is 2.5 gpm, and the 'low' setting is 1.85 gpm. The 1.85 is more than plenty. My main complaint with low flow showerheads has always been there wasn't enough pressure to rinse effectively with. Not the case with this unit. When we first got it, we used the regular setting, for a week or so, but were able to go down to the low setting ever since and it's worked wonderful. After visiting my sister in MN and dealing with her 'dribbly' low flow head, I think I'm going to start giving these as presents for Christmas and birthdays.

Alsons' are the creators of the Water Amplifying feature used in the Delta Shower head mentioned above. It looks like Delta bought Alsons' at the end of 2011 (http://www.deltafaucet.com/alsons.html) I have the Delta (1.8/2.5 gpm) model on the upstairs tub, but I bought the Alsons' 1.5gpm version for the master bath and find the performance to be similar. I found it in the $25 price range online. I've seen the Delta on the shelf at the Big Box stores so if you are worried about the possibility of wanting to return it, you may want to go that route.

If you want to go ultra low flow you should check the Aqua Helix (http://www.aquahelix.net/) which I used for 4-5 years before the wife forced me to get the Alsons'. It provides a strong, tingling stream unrestricted but can be adjusted by sliding collar down to more of a soft pattern. It spins a single stream around within the head much like a pressure washer nozzle does. You'll see on their web site that it is a real "Love it" or "Hate it" kind of product. I'll re-install the Aqua Helix again if we go back to drought conditions or have water restrictions.

American Standard FloWise Transitional 3-Function Water Saving Shower www.americanstandard-us.com/shower-faucets/flowise-3-function-water-saving-showerhead/ Bought one of these after evaluating Amazon.com www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00125PZJ8/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=hi&psc=1 and Consumer Report magazine. Was so impressed that I purchased a second for our other bath. This showerhead delivers a deceptively economical flow of water by using turbine technology, giving the sensation of a greater flow rate.
There are three settings; at 1.5gpm you get a basic shower pattern, and at 2.0gpm, you can choose between a full spray or combination spray. If one of the 2.0gpm settings was used, when the shower has ended, the setting resets to the 1.5gpm default. Running out of hot water after multiple showers has been reduced or eliminated (with two teenagers), but the primary consideration is conservation of water, especially during a prolonged Texas drought.

I always look for the most "environmentally hostile" (tongue in cheek) shower head I can find. http://www.showerbuddy.com/ has some nice ones. Or retrofit your existing inefficient shower head: http://www.freeexistence.org/highflow.html

Note that low flow, in addition to being unsatisfying, take longer to get warm, and studies have shown that low-flow showers are correlated to respiratory illness (from the mist that low-flow tends to produce.

  • I'd like to see citations for those studies. A properly designed low-flow showerhead doesn't produce any "mist," and the low-flow showerhead I use has been very satisfying. Not all low-flow showerheads are designed with equal competence; the ones to avoid are the "misty" ones and the "pins and needles" ones that drive sharp jets of water painfully into your skin. Well-designed ones like the simple Real Goods showerhead I've been using for the past 15 years, produce a strong, satisfying shower with no mist.

Consider the Speakman, which is a showerhead that you will often find in hotels and athletic clubs. I expect that this is so because, although it's not cheap, it will be unlikely to need replacing for decades, and it adjusts to make just about anyone happy with the stream. We absolutely love ours. It works exactly as it did when we put it in over a year ago.

We got ours online at Ace Hardware Outlet for about $45 delivered but I see that it's more expensive now. What I like about it is that 1) it's solid. Not much to go wrong. 2) It has a very simple control lever on the side, which again, is very solid, and quickly adjusts through an infinite range of continuously variable settings, from almost a solid, smooth stream of water, to numerous pin-prick streams that almost feel like they could take paint off.

It is possible! Some shower heads use adjustable spray patterns or a pressure chamber to increase shower pressure without using more water. We've got heaps of reviews of different shower heads from Rainfall to L.E.D ones at www.agreatshower.com you can check out the reviews here.

What do you get for someone that has everything? A shower head! My father has been suffering for years in southern Florida with low water pressure. I have listened to the complaining and experienced his low water pressure shower head myself. All he wanted was to increase the velocity and power of the water that he had without breaking the bank. This last birthday I was struggling on what to get him and my search began. I came across www.take-a-shower.com and their videos of their products working on youtube. I decided to send him the 6 jet in brushed nickel. Here is a video of it working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqnRLhYVIso . I got the best son award this year! Dad is finally happy and telling everyone in his complex what a great son I am and how happy he is with my purchase.

  • www.take-a-shower.com shower head was the best shower head for my low water pressure in my home in Ct. We are on well water and this new equipment specifically designed for my situation worked very well. I highly recommend this company!!

  • My Falmouth home has very low water pressure. I have very long black hair and my new shower head from www.take-a-shower.com worked very well to rinse the soap out. As you know, Afra Sheen is hard to rinse out but this shower head works very well.

The most important thing is to get a shower head that has a cutoff, or buy a separate cutoff valve like this: http://www.amazon.com/Danco-89171-Shut-Off-Shower-Chrome/dp/B000JFNPJE It lets you turn the water off and on without having to fiddle with the temperature.

Get yourself wet, then cut off the water, lather up, switch the water back on and rinse. Saves a ton of water (and soap!) over standing under the spray the whole time.

Taking a shower should be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience and the key to that is a good shower head. After 60 hours of research and tests (that is, showers) by multiple friends and relatives, the head we keep coming back to is the Take A Shower LLC Fire Hydrant Spa Plaza Massager Shower Head from http://highpressureshowers.com/.

If you have low water pressure throughout your entire house it is likely going to be caused by either your municipal water supply or the supply plumbing on your property. You can consult your local plumber who can check your plumbing for corrosion and blockages. If this is the case, you or your plumber might be able to fix the issue by adjusting your pressure reducing valve. Otherwise some old pipework may need replacing.

If you just have low water pressure in your shower it might be caused by your bathroom plumbing or your shower head. If your water pressure has become low, there might be corrosion in your bathroom pipes or your shower head might be starting to clog. Try cleaning your shower head with the how to guide that we’re published here.

If your shower water pressure has always been low and weak, you can check for the presence of and try removing or altering the flow restrictor in your shower head.

Under United States law, shower heads can only be sold with a water flow of no more than 2.5 gallons per minute. To comply with this law, shower head manufacturers and distributor companies add a small plastic flow restrictor to their shower heads.

You can remove the flow restrictor or water saver by unscrewing your shower head. Locating the colored plastic restrictor, then pulling it out with a pair of pliers or a screwdriver. For some of the more difficult ones to remove, you might need to try screwing a screw into it, to give you something to grip so that you can remove it easier.

Thank you Take A Shower LLC for the Fire Hydrant Spa Plaza Massager Shower Head . This is the best shower head ever for low water pressure. It is amazing how http://highpressureshowers.com/ has changed our lives.

You are looking for something low flow but high pressure for low water pressure in your shower. The Fire Hydrant Series of shower heads and Handhelds are specifically designed for powerful performance even at the lowest water pressures. I was doing some research on Google.com (searched for powerful fire hydrant shower heads) recently and found http://highpressureshowers.com/ from Take A Shower LLC. Take A Shower has engineered inside of the shower heads’ design that sends the incoming water through a series of narrowing channels within the shower heads’ internal design that gives great velocity (which speeds up the water. like you put your figure on the end of a garden hose.) whether you are on a city or well water supply. I have read the reviews and have spoken with a great customer service department on a quality 4 Jet Shower Head called Fire Hydrant Spa Symphony. They have other series of shower heads but this is the one I purchased. When I turned it on the first time I was impressed at the powerful water flow. It was much better than my old shower head. This 4 Jet has to be one of the best shower heads for low water pressure problems and would do just as good with normal or high water pressure in the shower.I would try this out if you are still having problems with your shower. Thank you for fixing my low water pressure in my shower!

Powerful handheld for low water pressure in shower

David Rayn (NYC)

This Fire Hydrant Spa Deluxe Plaza Massager Handheld Shower Head with the 59 inch dura flex hose is a great product. I cannot believe such a low price. I was just at Home Depot and a similar hand held shower was more, without the special low water pressure technology. Don’t let the inexpensive price give you pause, sometimes in life we get what we pay for,PLUS. What a pleasant surprise this hand held shower head is. When I hooked it up the water pressure was so much higher in my shower. This is the best hand held shower head for low water pressure. The velocity and flow was so much more powerful. I buy a lot of things every year, many of them good, a handful great, and many not so good. It’s not very often that I find a product and company that stand head and shoulders above anything in their market. Take a shower and Amazon.com who also sells take a shower’s line of shower heads fit that description to a point. I’ve had one of their Fire Hydrant Spa Plaza Massager Shower Heads in my bathroom for over two years and it’s the best shower head I have ever owned. I’m a mechanical engineer and I researched many different designs. This one exceeds my expectations. In fact, I’m moving into a new home in a couple of weeks and just ordered another Fire Hydrant Spa Plaza Massager Shower head from Amazon with my Amazon Prime order. If you want a great shower head and want to talk to someone who knows a lot about water pressure call them directly and ask for customer service. You won’t get it and you’ll get the right product on the day they promise delivery. Most modern showerheads are operationg at 2.5 or 1.85 gallons per minute, offering a high-volume spray and a water-saving comfort spray. A convenient volume-control lever adjusts the water settings. A lot about this can be found on http://walkinshowers.org/

I found a really neat little showerhead on http://www.houzz.com for low water pressure in my shower. There was a group of special low water pressure showerheads made especially for people that have problems with lack of velocity coming into their home through the well. The series of showerheads is known as the Fire Hydrant series. I googled high pressure shower heads, low water pressure shower heads, high pressure low flow and how to increase pressure in my shower and everytime I came up with http://www.highpressureshowers.com that are also sold on http://www.houzz.com/

The showerhead I picked out is the Fire Hydrant Spa Plaza Massager showerhead. This little showerhead turns into a fire hydrant when you engage the massager lever. The powerful pulsating hot water relaxes and cleans you very well. It is well worth the money. http://www.houzz.com/photos/37074428/lid=23060480/Fire-Hydrant-Spa-Plaza-Massager-Best-Shower-Head-For-Low-Water-Pressure-transitional-showerheads-and-body-sprays

I am a huge fan of the Niagara Conservation 2.0 Gpm. I’ve had mine for about 3 years now and it’s still working great. Also, it has a nice long connector tube, making it really versatile for cleaning other stuff in your bathroom (cats, buckets, etc.).

I just want to reiterate to people the importance of mariobest’s answer above. If you’re in a hard water area (like Los Angeles for example) you may not need a new showerhead so much as a thorough cleaning out of the existing head and the pipe feeding it. You can do this through a combination of mechanical force (pricking the holes one at a time with a pin) and a chemical that will dissolve the scaly residue and not the rest of the shower. Lemon juice is good as for the initial pass, with something a little stronger like LimeAway, scrubbed in via an old toothbrush, for the second pass. Once the head is clean, you will probably want to unscrew it and perform a similar operation on as much of the feeder pipe as you can reach.

For obvious reasons you may want to postpone doing this till summer when you don’t mind standing naked in the air for an hour or so, and occasionally subjecting yourself to water bursts.

I did this on the shower (which looks like it’s about fifteen years old) in my house, and the difference it made was remarkable, absolutely worth the time.

Tufts graduate students invented a water saving high pressure shower head which features a light that changes from green to red after showering for seven minutes. Standing under a relaxing stream of hot water, it can be easy to forget how many minutes you are taking in the shower. Time becomes warped in a combination of suds & steam, making it quite difficult to keep tabs on how much water and electricity is being consumed. The Uji high pressure shower head lets bathers know when they are dawdling in the bathroom by using an LED light that gradually turns from green to red. Average shower time clocks in around seven minutes, giving the user about a minute to finish up and rinse off.

With the Nebia Low Flow High Pressure Shower Head, for the same amount of time, one will use up only six gallons, or 70 percent less water. With a starting price of nearly three hundred US dollars, the Nebia showerhead can pay for itself in a couple of years time.

There are only two outliers in the low-flow showerhead space - at least in the US market - products that are truly different from the rest of the pack:

No matter what their subtle differences may be, all other makers’ low-flow shower heads use the same basic design, one that’s been fundamentally unchanged since the 1850s: dropping water through holes in a perforated disc. (See the third slide here for a photo of an 1850s-era showerhead in Natchez National Historical Park Mississippi, that looks a whole lot like current-day models.) Modern low-flow heads may aerate (add air to) the water, to give the impression of a fuller spray, or use turbines to pulse the spray, but they still fundamentally work much like watering cans, dropping water on you from above through small holes. That technology has some limitations - it doesn’t always work well when you have low water pressure at the shower arm, and the small holes tend to clog up over time from mineralization and/or grit in the water.

In contrast, both Nebia and High Sierra use nozzles to generate spray. Nebia’s is inspired by the misty, atomizing nozzles used in industry, and seeks to envelop you in a warm cloud of fine droplets. High Sierra’s is based on a handheld spray nozzle for golf greens, and just blasts you with large, heavy droplets.

We’ve had two of High Sierra’s shower heads at home since 2014. (My unboxing photos from that time.) Simply put, at 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm), their spray feels more satisfying and stronger than every one of the standard 2.5 gpm heads we’ve had before. They make their spray by splitting water into two streams, via a pin, then slamming the streams back together. This makes a cone of large, heavy, high kinetic energy droplets that doesn’t feel like low-flow at all!

You can find many reviews of High Sierra’s shower heads on Amazon; across the board, they’ve received approximately 95% combined 5-star and 4-star ratings. I’m not at all surprised by that, based on our own experiences. Here’s an in-depth blog review by a triathlete who uses these shower heads, as well. Of note, people reviewing these who have low water pressure - well water, gravity-fed systems, and the like - have said these still deliver a strong spray. (They’re rated to work even with 30 psi water, as well as up to 80 psi; most homes have somewhere between 50-60 psi pressure.) Because they make their spray through a large single opening, rather than a bunch of tiny holes, they’re also less affected by minerals or sand/grit in the water, so they’re much less likely to clog over time.

They’re a bit pricey compared to some other alternatives, starting at $35-up, but pay for themselves pretty quickly. Because of the way they make their spray, they’re also a bit louder than some other shower heads. I find that to be a pleasing white noise – and when I take showers in our master bath, that’s never woken my wife nearby – but some might disagree. Those are about the only two drawbacks; otherwise, I think these are head and shoulders above the rest.

Disclaimer: within three weeks after using our first shower head from High Sierra, I called the company and asked if I could intern for them, to get the word out; I now work for them part-time. (I’m a long-time IT guy, still work in that field full-time, alongside my part-time gig for High Sierra, and never in a million years would have thought at some point in my life I’d be doing this: talking about showerheads to people I don’t know.)

They’re just that good ... startlingly good – I often call them the best water-saving shower heads you’ve never heard of. (However, High Sierra Showerheads does happen to show up on the first page of search results, alongside well-known names like Niagara and Moen, when Googling on low-flow shower head, so word of mouth has definitely gotten around.) They’ve made right here in the USA, too, in a small factory in the California mountains, not far from Yosemite National Park, and nearly all of their parts are domestically-made, as well, in places like Merced, Fresno, and Santa Monica, California.

This in2ition two in one shower kit delivers high pressured water when you need it. It features an integrated fixed shower head along with a second hand held shower head. This shower gives you the best of both worlds and you can choose to either use the hand held shower head, the fixed one or both. I think the best way to find a great shower head is to rely on customers’ reviews. For instance, visit amazon and try to figure out what people recommend most often, generally all reviews are real so you will not fail in your purchase. I also advise you to visit website http://www.bestshowerchairs.com/ where you can find all necessary products and accessorizes for your bathroom.
