Is there an excellent product that can be used by a homeowner to repair their own broken-up cement sidewalk between the home and the road?

Yes, it comes in a bag. It's called concrete mix. Seriously. You can't beat this with stuff from a caulking gun.

Yes, get it in 50 lb bags. Not mortar mix, but quickcrete or something like that. A Home Depot will have a selection of mixes. If it is just a gap then a mortar mix might be the thing. You can sweep it in the crack dry then wet it afterwards.

Thoroseal patch and acrylic glue. Clean the broken edges with compressed air if possible.
