What type of system is simple to install a home water purification system (with basic-to-medium plumbing skills)?  The most important characteristics are ease of installation, easy to change filters, good results and economical.

Costco sells several reverse osmosis under-sink filters at various price-points. For example: ”Pure Blue H2O 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System” for about $160. I’ve used similar devices for a couple of decades and I’m satisfied with the quality of the water and the cost. I pay about $80-$150 per year to have the unit services by a local vendor including changing whichever filters require it. I could do it myself, but the cost is reasonable to save me from having to crawl under the sink. One downside to this kind of filtration is that it takes about 3 gallons of tap water to generate one gallon of filtered water. The trade-off is there are no plastic bottles to throw away.

Well seeing as her pitcher is 20 years old it is obsolete but the Brita pitchers are the best quality so I would get her a new one they are typically about 20 dollars or so, but the filters do need to be replaced every 6 months or so, so I would buy her the new pitcher as well as maybe a replacement filter or two.

Choose the best water filter pitcher to have the best quality drinking.
