I'm looking to add a compass or compass/thermometer to my EDC on my keychain. All the ones I see on amazon are quite bulbous and look like they have too much bulk for the function. Can anyone recommend a flat, thin (say 1/4" to 1/8" thick) fob to add to my keychain?

I believe you're looking for something like this? http://www.leevalley.com/US/home/PrintPage.aspx?p=45180&ap=1

Not thin, but I still use my father's 40-year-old one.

The Suunto Comet seems to be pretty darn small, but I don't see thickness in any product descriptions. It looks like they're no longer making this unit. If you like, get one quickly.

maybe the Brunton 9041 Glow Mate Compass less than $10 on Amazon with reasonably good reviews.

  • bruntonoutdoor.com says that the 9041 is a 0.5 inches thick. The 11HNL is 0.4. I believe that's the thinnest one they make.

It seems difficult to make a functional compass that is as thin as @kodemage would like.
