Ho-Mi/Korean Hand Plough/EZ Digger
A magnificent weeding tool
I have had a ho-mi for several years, and I reach for it every time I garden. I use the pointed end to make small furrows and divots for planting seeds, or use it to dig deeper to make room for transplants. The straight side of the tool can be used to smooth soil or mulch after planting. Its greatest advantage over other tools, though, is that it is a magnificent weeding tool. The sharp point digs into the roots of the offending plant and the tool’s curved shape makes it easy to lever the weed out of the soil.
Apparently, this tool has been used in Korea for 5,000 years. Its intuitive and elegant design makes it perfect for a variety of gardening tasks.
