Kanji tutor:<\/strong>
\nIn the last six months I\u2019ve learned over 500 kanji characters and Japanese vocabulary words using WaniKani<\/a>, a \u201cspaced repetition system\u201d flashcard website. The first 3 levels are free, after that you can pay by the year or buy a lifetime account. (Disclosure, my wife used to work at WaniKani\u2019s parent company). \u2014 MF<\/p>\n

Authentic bling:<\/strong>
\nMy wife picked a small cubic zirconia synthetic diamond for her engagement ring<\/a>. Because it is just one carat it looks like a diamond. Nobody can tell it is synthetic. Really. It cost $24. Real diamonds are a ripoff. \u2014 KK<\/p>\n

Watchable:<\/strong>
\nI enjoy the occasional Joe Rogan rant, because he can be very enlightening. Thankfully, his video on Happiness<\/a> is short and straightforward, and surprisingly uplifting. Personally, I\u00a0struggle with \u201c[Happiness is] not<\/i> having all your ducks in a row on paper,\u201d so this video is a good reminder. \u00a0\u2014 CD<\/p>\n

Near future must read:<\/strong>
\nThe juiciest source I know for what\u2019s new in the world of artificial intelligence, biotech, and the near future is the free weekly newsletter from Azeem Azhar called Exponential Review<\/a>. His succinct list of links, annotated with his remarks and degree of confidence of its importance, are a telegraphic way to keep up easily and quickly. I\u2019ve found more good stuff from him that no one else is pointing to. \u2014 KK<\/p>\n

Travel razor:<\/strong>
\nThis small $15 electric razor from Philips Norelco<\/a> uses 2 AA batteries. I bring it with me when I travel and have started using it at home too, because it works so well. \u2014 MF<\/p>\n
