\nThis cool website,\u00a0Drive & Listen<\/a>, pulls dashboard cam videos from YouTube and pairs them up with local music channels so that you can feel like you\u2019re cruising around in a foreign city, blasting the radio, all while sitting at your desk. \u2014 CD<\/p>\n

Improved Dictanote<\/strong>
\nI recommended\u00a0Dictanote<\/a>\u00a0a few weeks ago. It\u2019s a Chrome-based application that converts speech to text. It\u2019s faster and less buggy than my Mac\u2019s built-in dictation. Recently, Dictanote released a Google Chrome extension that lets you use Dictanote within almost any website. Now I\u2019m using it to answer emails in Gmail, which has been a big time saver. It doesn\u2019t work with Google Docs, which is unfortunate, but for longer form speech-to-text writing I use Dictanote\u2019s notebook and copy and paste the text (in fact, I\u2019m using the notebook to write this recommendation). It\u2019s $19, and because I\u2019m such a terrible typist, it paid for itself within the first day or two. \u2014 MF<\/p>\n

Enjoy the boss radio sound of KHJ 93 Los Angeles<\/strong>
\nOne of my favorite things about Quentin Tarantino\u2019s\u00a0Once Upon a Time\u2026 in Hollywood\u00a0<\/em>was listening to\u00a0clips<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a093 KHJ<\/a>, a radio station that pioneered the \u201cboss radio\u201d sound in the 1960s. The DJs were all vocal virtuosos, and the most talented of the bunch was a guy by the name of \u201cThe Real Don Steele.\u201d Almost all of these broadcasts have been lost to time, but fortunately, some people recorded KHJ on their tape recorders in the 1960s, and the recordings found their way to the Internet. The Internet Archive has a\u00a0couple of recordings<\/a>\u00a0from the 1960s of Steele\u2019s show on KHJ. Here\u2019s\u00a0another<\/a>, and\u00a0another<\/a>\u00a0(with other KHJ DJs, too). Email design database<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>If you\u2019re in the newsletter business,\u00a0Really Good Emails<\/a>\u00a0has a huge database of marketing emails and newsletters that you can search for inspiration. You can \u201ccollect\u201d designs that you like, view code, and see examples of how it looks across different email clients and devices. I was not surprised to see\u00a0Food52 emails<\/a>\u00a0on there, because I always feel compelled to click (and sometimes buy) whatever they send me. \u2014 CD<\/p>\n

Opaque white ink<\/strong>
\nIn my workshop and studio, I label boxes, shelves, drawers, cases, bins, and parts with a very dense white \u201cink\u201d which is really white correction fluid in a stubby pen. White is usually much more legible than black, but white ink is much more difficult to apply heavy enough to cover any surface. These\u00a0Pentel Presto Jumbo Correction Pens<\/a>\u00a0do a fantastic job applying thick non-drippy white paint via a fine point tip, and are small enough to carry in my workshop apron. They draw perfectly opaque white on any surface, instantly, even vertical surfaces. I have not found anything else that will do that. \u2014 KK<\/p>\n
